Commissioned Painting for Akbar Gbajabiamila of American Ninja Warrior – HB Wilson School – Camden, NJ

Commissioned Painting for Akbar Gbajabiamila of American Ninja Warrior – HB Wilson School – Camden, NJ

We are honored as William created a commissioned painting which was a surprise gift for Akbar Gbajabiamila who recently visited Camden on Friday, November 15th, to encourage and motivate Camden students at Uncommon Schools Camden Prep and HB Wilson School in Camden. William created this commissioned painting customized specifically for Akbar, and the artwork was unveiled that morning at HB Wilson School. This painting is entitled Invincible Spirit (36″ x 48″- acrylic on canvas) and incorporates imagery and words important to Akbar which represents his life, family, and work.

Akbar Gbajabiamila hosts NBC’s three-time Emmy Award-nominated hit competition series “American Ninja Warrior,” which is in its 11th season. He is also host of “American Ninja Warrior Junior” on Universal Kids. For more information on Akbar Gbajabiamila’s work and accomplishments, please view: https://www.nbc.com/american-ninja-warrior/credits/host/akbar-gbajabiamila

William is grateful to have created this art for Akbar and his family, and he is humbled by Akbar’s excitement receiving Invincible Spirit and desiring to install the art in his home in LA. Akbar is a talented and successful athlete/actor/host/author with a kind and generous heart toward all.

That morning in Camden, Akbar discussed the challenges he faced growing up in the inner city Crenshaw District of LA (his parents were born and raised in Nigeria). He encouraged the Camden students stating they can overcome challenges and reach their goals creating a positive impact in their families and communities. We were blessed to spend time with the leadership at HB Wilson School and with many wonderful students at the school.

Special thanks to Reverend Floyd White and Bonnie White who have led WoodlandCDC for 30+ years in Camden. We thank them both for their many years of incredible service to youth and families in Camden. For more information on WoodlandCDC, please view: http://www.woodlandcdc.org
