10 Sep Experience the New Camden ArtBox at City Hall’s Roosevelt Park – Camden Jam Festival – Sat., Sept. 19, Noon – 8pm
We are very excited to share with you the following news: Camden will soon have a new destination and experience – the Camden ArtBox! Join us for the unveiling of the Camden ArtBox at the Camden Jam Festival at Roosevelt Park on Saturday, September 19th, from noon to 8pm. Admission is free.
The Camden ArtBox is a shipping container transformed into a public creative arts space allowing all to enjoy multiple creative and artistic events. The Camden ArtBox is a bright, inviting, and lasting work of art in the city. Our hope is the Camden ArtBox will be an exciting destination for the residents of Camden, for those who work and serve in the city, and for those who visit Camden too.
The exterior of the Camden ArtBox is a vibrant green color depicting a fun, visible artistic expression of growth, renewal, and nature. This green color also collaborates well with Camden’s initiatives to “Go Green” and to be environmentally conscious and focused on health & the beautification of Camden.
The Camden ArtBox’s exterior is a four-sided community mural arts space, and William is currently working on creating a 40′ mural for the one side of the Camden ArtBox. The other side will contain a large public mural as well as a space allowing all who attend Camden Jam to creatively and interactively express their hope for Camden through an art activity on the exterior of the Camden ArtBox.
The interior of the Camden ArtBox will be transformed into a beautiful, professional art gallery. The first art exhibit in the Camden ArtBox at the Camden Jam will feature selected art from high school students at the Camden Public Schools. We look forward to celebrating these students’ successes as well as their art teachers, principals, and all those leading in their education.
In the future, the Camden ArtBox will continue to showcase other art exhibits as well as other creative art activities. The Camden ArtBox will continue to be a public creative arts space and experience for all in Camden.
We are very honored our proposal for this large public arts project in Camden (the Camden ArtBox) was chosen by the Connect the Lots (CTL) leadership. We are blessed to be working with an incredible team of Richard, Susan & the CTL team, Sarah, Enrique, Meishka & the Cooper’s Ferry Partnership team, Frank, Bob, and their team at TRS Containers, Joey and his team at Keepin It Classy, Keith, Edwin, and their City of Camden Dept. of Public Works team, and the list goes on.
We are excited as the Camden ArtBox was successfully delivered to Roosevelt Park in Camden yesterday. Without all of the above people’s past, recent, and ongoing hard work and belief in this project, the Camden ArtBox would not be a reality.
Camden Jam Is a free arts and music festival featuring the Camden ArtBox as well as many talented musicians and performers. Also, Camden Jam will feature various arts, crafts & music as well as a Kids Zone & Eco Zone. This is a festival to be enjoyed by the entire family. All Camden children who visit the Kids Zone will receive a Back to School Giveaway bag while supplies last, and Camden Jam is also offering a free photo booth.
