Meaning of Cadence:
William’s newest paintings, entitled Cadence, are vibrant abstract compositions of color, line, shape, and texture which express the vivid and dynamic adventures experienced doing van life during the past many months in Los Angeles. These paintings depict the beautiful and dynamic people, places, colors, sounds, rhythms, cultures, nature, and geography which all express the cadence of Los Angeles.
“Each Cadence painting was an exploration in focusing on creating what I perceive (not what I see) which is a culmination of imagery and observations gained from viewing, listening, and experiencing deeply the beautiful chaos that is Los Angeles (beautiful people and places – yet suffering too). These paintings were fluidly created as I reflected upon the vibrant and meaningful experiences I have had in Los Angeles while also experiencing a fasted lifestyle and a pioneering spirit.” – William Butler
